We said a tearful “farewell” to our beloved Moses on Sunday, 9 March 2008. He had been our faithful companion for 13 years and a wonderful brother to Noah, Rachel and Webber. As the eldest in the family, his was a heavy load. He roused us all around 5:30 every morning and presented his “slobber-ball of the day” to the first face he could dig out of the pillows. If you happened to be awake just before that you could hear him shuffling around the house making his ball selection for the day. If the one he wanted was under the couch, he just stood there and barked until an obedient human came to get it for him. No matter if there were five other balls beside him – he NEEDED the one under the couch!
Moses was also responsible for keeping the schedule the rest of the day – walks were to be taken on time; naps were regularly scheduled, and meals were to be served PROMPTLY upon return from a walk. There were to be no hugs without him in the middle and his place in bed was dead centre – humans and other furkids to be arranged around him.
In his later years Moses became increasingly independent – he’d walk where he wanted to walk; he’d head home when he was ready to head home; he’d hear what he wanted to hear; and he’d have the WHOLE couch to himself, thank you very much!
A loving friend – never to be forgotten. His gentle look and insistent nudges will be forever in our hearts.
Sadly missed by his loyal servants Linda, Peter, Noah, Rachel and Webber.
