Adoption Process
An adoption application form must be filled out including references before you may meet a dog.
Filling out an adoption form in advance speeds up the adoption process as we keep your applications on file and will notify you when we have a possible match.
Your references are checked from the adoption form (which are mandatory). And also a call is made to the vet you are or would be using. Due to privacy laws you will have to call your vet with permission to release information to us.
After the reference checks are completed a home visit is conducted. Once the home visit is complete and everything is satisfactory the dog may be taken for an overnight visit.
This may seem like a long process but it can usually be accomplished in a few days. If for any reason it doesn't work out it is mandatory that the dog returns to rescue. No matter of the time elapsed.
It is also mandatory that all dogs be spayed/neutered. If the dog is not of age when adopted provisions must be made by the adopting family for alteration by 7 months of age.
Our adoption fee is $175 (new owners will be reimbursed $50 upon proof of payment for obedience classes*) This helps to defer the costs associated with rescuing. All adoption fees, payable in cash or by cheque, go straight back into the rescue fund to help other dogs.
